Artist Statement
Quiet Curiosity was inspired by the naturally inquisitive nature of raccoons. I was drawn to this raccoon’s watchful expression and the feeling that it had paused for just a moment to quietly study something beyond the frame.
I painted this piece while spending time at one of my family’s favorite places, somewhere we return to each year to slow down and relax. Painting outdoors in such a peaceful setting felt especially fitting for a piece centered around a quiet moment in nature. Quiet Curiosity celebrates those small encounters with wildlife that invite us to stop, notice, and take a closer look.
